🚨 Danish Defense Tech Week Is Coming

Fostering Defense Innovation for European Sovereignty

Hey everybody,

We just wrapped up our first hackathons in Bucharest, Taiwan and South Korea. In Taipei, Bryce C. Barros joined us as a mentor and judge, then wrote a “Call for more defense hackathons” for the Taipei Times. We're happy to oblige.

Taipei Times: Call for more defense hackathons, by Bryce C. Barros, October 9, 2026

On November 6–8, we're hosting three hackathons at the same time: Lisbon, Munich, and Copenhagen. Almere, Paris, Prishtina, and Berlin follow later in the month.

The Copenhagen hackathon is part of Danish Defense Tech Week, which we're co-organizing with Defense Innovation Highway on November 5–12. Join us for the compute event, the hackathon, or one of the four events across Denmark.

We're also hosting our first EDTH meetup in Spain, in Valencia on November 4, together with Voltrac and Startup Grind. Details on all of these below.

Across the community and ecosystem:

  • October 22: Cap Vista's Solicitation 6.0 closes, with funded trial opportunities for selected applicants.

  • October 30: Applications close for Defence Builder's next accelerator batch, open to teams with a working prototype.

  • Resilience Media’s report from our first Singapore hackathon follows the teams through the weekend.

  • Running events yourself? commonspace, the platform we use for EDTH hackathons, is inviting more communities to its early-access waitlist. Our co-founder Benjamin Wolba teamed up with Irena Makar and Matthias Reis to create commonspace.

🇩🇰 Danish Defense Tech Week | November 5–12

Danish Defense Tech Week, November 5–12

We're co-organizing Danish Defense Tech Week with Defense Innovation Highway to bring Danish and Ukrainian defense tech communities together. Engineers, founders, military professionals and investors will meet across Denmark, with a Ukrainian delegation joining through IRON Cluster.

November 5 | Sovereign Compute Meetup

Sovereign Compute Meetup, Copenhagen, November 5

Defense teams need to decide what runs on a vehicle, what needs a nearby computer, and what still relies on a data center. Those choices matter when power is limited or communications fail. At the meetup, we'll bring semiconductor companies and defense teams together to discuss what these systems need and how European chip companies can help build them.

Join us in Copenhagen, from 10:00 to 16:00.

November 6–8 | Copenhagen Defense Tech Hackathon

Copenhagen Defense Tech Hackathon, November 6–8

The Danish Chips Competence Centre is hosting us again. This edition focuses on passive detection, uncrewed surface vessels, and the protection of undersea cables and pipelines.

Choose one of the 10–15 prepared challenges or bring your own project. Experienced mentors will give you feedback as you build. Teams present their prototypes at Sunday's Demo Day, which EDTH Community members can join as visitors.

November 9–12 | Defense Tech Events Across Denmark

DIH is hosting four meetups after that:

We will announce more events over the coming days, so stay tuned.

🇧🇬 Sofia | October 16–18

Sofia Defense Tech Hackathon, October 16–18

Our first hackathon in Bulgaria runs this weekend, October 16–18, co-organized with Capital and the Technical University of Sofia, with Raisen AI Technology as a partner. Build with military mentors, or join Sunday's Demo Day as an EDTH Community visitor.

🇨🇭 Winterthur | Critical Infrastructure Shield Hackathon | October 23–25

Critical Infrastructure Shield Hackathon, Winterthur, October 23–25

We're returning to Winterthur for our first Critical Infrastructure Shield Hackathon. The focus is on the systems we rely on every day: energy grids, transport hubs, data centers and communications networks.

Our partners include EY Switzerland, armasuisse, CDDS and Laelaps AI. Teams will build counter-drone systems, autonomous surveillance and communications that keep working when networks are disrupted.

Join as a builder, or come to Sunday's Demo Day as an EDTH Community visitor to see the prototypes and meet the teams.

🇵🇹 Lisbon | Defense Tech Hackathon | November 6–8

Lisbon Defense Tech Hackathon, November 6–8

After Porto in April, we're hosting our first hackathon in Lisbon, the weekend before Web Summit, November 9–12. We're working with EY Portugal, DroneAid Portugal, Any Key Studio and PRODUCTIZED.

Bring your own project or choose a prepared challenge, and get feedback from mentors with frontline experience. If you're heading to Web Summit, come early and spend the weekend building with us.

EDTH Community members can join Sunday's Demo Day to see the prototypes and meet the teams.

🇩🇪 Munich | OSINT and Counter-Disinformation | November 6–8

Munich OSINT and Counter-Disinformation Hackathon, November 6–8

Our first hackathon that focuses on open-source intelligence and foreign information manipulation takes place in Munich, co-organized with the Media for Peace project at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich.

If you're working to gather intelligence from public sources or to counter disinformation, join us. You'll have 48 hours to build, with feedback from Bundeswehr mentors and researchers.

🇪🇸 Valencia | Our First EDTH Meetup in Spain | November 4

Together with Voltrac and Startup Grind, we're hosting our first EDTH meetup in Valencia on November 4, from 19:00 to 22:00.

Meet founders, engineers and investors working on defense and dual-use technology. There will be talks, a three-minute open mic session for startup pitches, and time to meet the local community.

We're also planning a hackathon in Spain for 2027, and we'll talk about it at the meetup. If you'd like to help shape it, come along. Registration is subject to host approval.

Across the Defense Tech Ecosystem

Cap Vista | Funded Trials | Apply by October 22

Singapore's Cap Vista Accelerator is accepting proposals from companies, startups and research teams worldwide. Solicitation 6.0 covers resilient positioning and navigation, counter-drone planning, countering uncrewed underwater vehicles, and portable radiological decontamination.

Selected applicants can receive funded trials with end users. Each challenge has its own technical requirements and trial process. Apply by October 22 at 13:00 Singapore time.

Defence Builder | Accelerator Batch 4.0 | Apply by October 30

Defence Builder is accepting applications for its four-month accelerator from teams worldwide with a working prototype at TRL 4 or above.

The program helps teams work with military users, validate their technology and prepare for procurement, production and fundraising. Applications close on October 30.

Resilience Media | Inside Our Singapore Hackathon

Resilience Media’s Harry Saunders visited our first Singapore hackathon. His report follows the teams through the weekend, including NeuroMech’s brain-controlled ground vehicle.

commonspace | The Platform Behind Our Hackathons

We use commonspace to run EDTH hackathons. Our co-founder Benjamin Wolba teamed up with Irena Makar and Matthias Reis to create commonspace. The platform brings events, community pages, members and chat into one place.

The team is now inviting other event organizers and communities to join its early-access waitlist. If you're building a community of your own, take a look.

If someone you work with should be at one of these events, forward this edition to them.

See you at the next one!
