🚨 The Largest European Defense Tech Hackathon Yet Again

Fostering Defense Innovation for European Sovereignty

🦾 It’s a Wrap: The Paris Defense Tech Hackathon

We did it again: we’ve organized Europe’s largest defense tech hackathon.

Our first hackathon in Munich back in June gathered 150 participants, hackers, mentors, and visitors, making it the largest thus far.

After doing a hackathon in Copenhagen with slightly more than 100 participants three weeks ago, we gathered 170+ participants at Station F in Paris a week ago. This made it yet again, Europe’s largest defense tech hackathon 🥳

Here are the winning teams:

1st place: “Automatic event-based detection and tracking of UAVs and Shahed drones in challenging lighting conditions” by Gregor Lenz, Karl Vetter, Florian Corgnou, Shannah Santucci, Kai Dierenbach, Filipp Trigub, and Patrick Madlindl

2nd place: “Magnetic Navigation for Sub-marine drones” by Hugo Biais, Axel Nguyen–Kerbel, Stefan AGRICI, David Podolskyi, and Yoan Di Cosmo

3rd place: “Anti-Helicopter Mine” by Antoine Besset and AdhĂ©mar de Senneville

Thanks to our jury, Max Makarchuk, Bryan Sardoch, Cyrus Hessabi, Lukas Koestler, Adeline Bailly, and Madis Koplimäe, for evaluating the hackathon submissions!

Also, check out our YouTube channel, as we’re posting clips and recordings from the hackathon there – such as this one with Max Makarchuk, Head of AI at BRAVE1, a Ukrainian state-backed accelerator striving to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the best technology possible:

Future Events

Our next hackathon will take place again in Munich, at the same time as the Munich Security Conference on February 13-16, 2025 – you can sign up already:

We have many more hackathons across Europe planned for next year, and we’ll announce them shortly.

In the meantime, there are two more events which we’ll be hosting online:

Tomorrow: EDTH x Counteroffensive Pro

We welcome Tim Mak, founder of Counteroffensive Pro – an English-language publication on Ukrainian defense innovation – for a chat about Ukrainian military tech concepts emerging from the battlefield and the regulatory environment for foreign investors
